🌎 Impact Update: Building Hope, Stone by Stone

Since our founding in 2009, The Helen Project International Inc. has been driven by the conviction that long-term empowerment begins with listening—not imposing solutions. Inspired by the principle of observing how people live and communicate, our commitment has been to partner with, and learn from, the Grandmothers we serve in Ghana and Kenya. Your generous support transforms this commitment into tangible results.

🇰🇪 Kenya: A Foundation of Future Opportunity

We are thrilled to report significant progress in our mission to provide stability and self-sufficiency. This year, we successfully constructed a new, sustainable home for one needy Grandmother, Jane Langat, who is caring for six grandchildren. The entire structure was completed for the cost of just $700. Jane’s profound gratitude and invitation to dine in her new dwelling exemplify the personal difference your contribution makes.

Furthermore, the original vision for the Women’s Center and Hostel in Kipsitet is nearing full realization. With a recent, significant capital contribution of $1 million to the Lott Carey Convention, a portion of that donation will eventually be directed to Kenya through a partnership with the Alfred Street Baptist Church, the final phase of construction is set to begin soon. This center will be a dedicated hub for training in tailoring, hairdressing, and computer skills, ensuring 150 Grandmothers and widows have pathways to sustainable futures. We have already seen the success of our training programs, which currently serve 17 students in these vital skills.

🇬🇭 Ghana: Expanding Self-Reliance

In Winneba, Ghana, our Micro-Lending Program continues its remarkable growth. What began with five Grandmothers has expanded to support 56 women actively engaged in commerce, with an impressive 54 women currently active. Their businesses span from selling fresh fish and roasted plantain to operating charcoal and water sales, showing high dedication, as evidenced by tremendously improved loan repayments compared to previous years. The program’s growth speaks volumes, with six new Grandmothers joining the initiative this September, each immediately receiving the capital to start their own enterprises.

Your investment fuels this self-reliance, giving Grandmothers the working resources they need to raise their grandchildren, who are being successfully kept in school. With a recent Board visit in September 2025 reaffirming the successful operation of these businesses, we are witnessing the impact of compassion and commitment translating into enduring change. The foundation for enduring goodness is set; we now invite you to provide the resources to sustain this powerful momentum and ensure our dedicated project managers on the ground have the necessary support for transportation to continue their crucial work.
